A Note of Thanks

Dear Artists, Donors, Supporters, Gormleys Auctions, Members, Family, Friends, and Followers,
On behalf of the team at Mayo Association Dublin I’d like to thank you most sincerely for playing an integral part in our first ever Online Charity Auction which came to a close one week ago (Tuesday, 7th December 2021).
The results of our Mayo Auction exceeded all expectations. We are blown away!
We got off to a strong and positive start. There was real interest and appetite which created such a buzz in the lead up to the auction night! It was fabulous to see the bids flying in online! We are thrilled to say that we surpassed our fundraising target of 10k. The grand total of charity funds raised will be announced once our Treasurer, Maeve McLoughlin, and Gormleys Auctions finalise the accounting piece.
Our website and social media platforms have never seen engagement or traffic like it! In the past fortnight, over 30,000 people and businesses were reached on the Mayo Association Dublin Facebook page and Instagram, 4,892 direct engagements with the auction itself, and there were over 2,200 visits to the Mayo Association Dublin webpage.
Each like, share, comment, interaction, and engagement helped spread the word hugely. The power of PR and Social Media worked wonders for us not to mention the good will of Mayo people and beyond sharing our event by word of mouth! The Mayo Press, Irish Independent, and MidWest Radio showed real solidarity and support by shining a light on our initiative – for that, we are so thankful.
We are deeply grateful to the talented artists who kindly shared and donated such wonderful and special art works. It was a pleasure to meet you, learn about your paintings, and curate such a special collection for public auction. Thank you for placing your trust in myself and the auction team as we navigated the way through our first Mayo Association Online Charity Auction! Sincere gratitude to all the Mayo led businesses that donated vouchers and hampers galore! Your generous contributions made for an interesting and diverse auction!
The all important partnership with Gormleys Art Auctions made our dream a reality. Without the use of their glorious gallery and bidding platform I’m not sure how we’d have pulled this off?!  In fact, we simply wouldn’t have. Thank you so much to Oliver Gormley and Lana Vinnik for your never ending support, guidance and contribution from the get go. It has been a pleasure knowing you and working with you.
Hats off to the Auction Sub Committee – we got there! You did it. Treasurer; Maeve McLoughlin, Secretary; Mairead Kenny, PRO; Noel Howley, Helena Kelly, Laura Kavanagh, Nora McBurney, Teresa Ruddy, and Trevor Wills. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir for your dedication and commitment to the task at hand. Your hard work really and truly paid off. Take your bow. I am proud of you.
My love of the arts and beautiful treasures was passed on by my wonderful parents. It  made pure sense to turn this passion into a good cause so may I take this opportunity to thank my own family for their never ending support behind the scenes from once this idea was born. To Mum, especially. She secured so many of the wonderful lots, and was on standby for all sorts of logistical work too! Being roped in comes to mind and they say charity starts at home!
Finally, to all you happy and supportive bidders – THANK YOU FOR YOUR FLUTTERS OF LOYALTY AND WINNING BIDS! Your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come and we look forward to formally announcing the final tally as well as the Mayo Charities that will benefit from this special fundraiser. Details will be made available early 2022.
May you experience much enjoyment from your beautiful art works and/or stays in some of Mayo’s finest establishments! We wish you and your loved ones all the peace and joy of this special season.

It has been a pleasure and a privilege.
Warm regards from all at Mayo Association Dublin.
