Another fantastic MAD Summer Party was held at the Iveagh Garden Hotel on Thursday 11 July, at which a great number of Association members, friends and supporters tucked into some tasty BBQ food, and sampled complimentary G&Ts from our ‘Gin Bar’, kindly served by Julie McMahon and Ella Nawrot from Connacht Whiskey Distillery, in addition to wine and beers to quench everyone's thirst on a sunny summer’s evening in the capital!
We were delighted to welcome over 100 mentors and students to our inaugural Mentorship & Networking Breakfast Meeting on Friday 1 March at the offices of law firm Byrne Wallace in Dublin, to provide a platform for Mayo’s business people in the capital to connect and share their experiences with Mayo students studying in Dublin (or who have started out on their career paths within the last five years).
The achievements of the 2019 Award Winners – Cathal Hughes (Virginia Gallagher Mayo Person of the Year); Mayo's Forgotten Famine Girls' Remembrance Group (Meitheal) and Sara McFadden (Young Mayo Person of the Year) - were celebrated at the Yew Tree Ball on Saturday 9 February. Mayo’s 2019 Annual Award winners were announced at a press launch on Thursday 17 January in Ballsbridge Hotel, before the official presentation at The Yew Tree Ball on Saturday 9 February to Cathal Hughes (Virginia Gallagher Mayo Person of the Year); the Meitheal Award to Mayo's Forgotten Famine Girls' Remembrance Group from Ballina, and Sara McFadden (Young Mayo Person of the Year).
Addressing up to 500 people who attended our Annual Business Lunch at the Intercontinental Hotel, Ballsbridge on Friday 9 November, guest speaker Mr Simon Harris TD, Minister for Health, highlighted the vital role that Mayo has played in continuing to attract Foreign Direct Investment to Ireland. Mayo Association Dublin was the main sponsor of the sixth annual Mayo Manchester Tradfest Gala Concert at the Ballina Arts Centre on Saturday 4 August. The event formed part of the week-long Mayo Manchester Tradfest, now firmly established as one of Ireland's biggest Traditional Irish Music, Song and Dance Festivals.
2017 marked the 21st anniversary of our Annual Business Lunch in the InterContinental Dublin Hotel, Ballsbridge on Friday 10 November 2017. Fitting tributes were paid to the five founding members – former High Court Judge Margaret Heneghan, Mary King, John Garavan, Noel Howley and the late Sheila Gunning.

We welcomed over 200 Mayo folk to our Summer Party 2018 in the Iveagh Garden Hotel (Dublin’s new stunning four-star hotel on Harcourt Street) on Thursday 5 July. Here’s a snapshot of Association members who enjoyed the summer soirée and we were delighted to meet and greet so many newcomers to what has become the highlight of our social calendar!
A huge number of guests, who joined us for the Mayo Association Dublin Summer Party 2017 on Thursday 21 July at the trendy gastro bar Lemon & Duke, were treated to a delicious gourmet BBQ, a special Mayo-themed Conncullin Gin & Tonic (courtesy of Connacht Whiskey Distillery) not to mention great ‘ceol agus craic’!
