Mayo Annual Awards 2020

Mayo Association Dublin is delighted to announce that nominations are now open for the Mayo Annual Awards 2020, which will be presented to the ‘Mayo Person of the Year’, the ‘Meitheal’ and the ‘Young Mayo Person of the Year’ on Friday 14 February 2020 at Dublin’s Ballsbridge Hotel.

 To qualify for the ‘Mayo Person of the Year Award’ he/she must have been born in Mayo, of Mayo parentage, or who has lived in Mayo for not less than seven years and who, in the opinion of an independent panel of adjudicators, has made an exceptional contribution to the county or its people.

The ‘Meitheal Award’ will be presented to a Mayo-based voluntary group or organisation, whose majority of its membership were born in Mayo or of Mayo parentage and who, in the opinion of the adjudicators, have achieved the greatest distinction or done most for the county or its people.

The ‘Young Mayo Person of the Year Award’ will be presented to a young person, under the age of 25, who lives in Mayo or was born or lived for in Mayo for seven years. The award aims to recognise the young person’s endeavours, which have provided significant social, community, leadership, or economic benefit to society, reflecting positively on Mayo. The award is designed to recognise the positive influence which young people may have on their peers and on the lives of others.

Submissions across all three categories should include any relevant information on each nominee’s contribution to Mayo (both directly and indirectly). A strong application should include an Executive Summary, in addition to narratives/articles reflecting the contributions and achievements of the nominee, and it may include letters of support for the nomination.

Three copies of all award nominations (preferably submitted in hard copy) should be sent to Bernardine MacBride Walsh, Honorary Secretary, Mayo Association Dublin, 228 The Waterside, Charlotte Quay, Dublin 4 (Tel: 087-7982650) on or before Friday 3 January 2020.

PLEASE NOTE:  All submissions received after this date will not be eligible for consideration.

*Mayo Association Dublin’s Executive Committee and Members are not involved in the selection of the award winners. Each year, the Executive Committee selects an independent panel of adjudicators to whom qualifying nominations are forwarded to for consideration.
